Jamie Donley ‘ready for Tottenham senior call-up’ as ‘magical’ footage emerges
Tottenham have multiple incredible talents coming through the academy but many of them are currently on loan away from Hotspur Way.
Alfie Dorrington, Min-Hyeok Yang and Will Lankshear all struck temporary deals away from North London during the winter transfer window, with seemingly not enough room under Ange Postecoglou.
The manager still has Archie Gray, Dan Scarlett and Mikey Moore at his disposal, with all three gaining a great amount of experience despite Spurs’ struggles on the pitch.
However, there is one player who Postecoglou might regret allowing to leave, or at least not recalling him during the transfer window, who has just proven himself against Premier League opposition.
Jamie Donley strikes against Manchester City in FA Cup
Jamie Donley, 20, has just brought the magic of the FA Cup to life, helping Leyton Orient to take the lead against Manchester City, lobbing Stefan Ortega almost from the halfway line.
While his shot rebounded off the crossbar and forced the goalkeeper into an own goal, he still played a major role in creating such an “incredible” moment [Emirates FA Cup X], one that he will never forget.
He also cleared a goal-bound shot off the line, almost telling Postecoglou that he was wrong to send the attacking midfielder out on loan this season rather than give him a chance in the first team.
Now, the manager has no other choice but to watch from afar as Donley continues his brilliant season in League One.
Ange Postecoglou hears Tottenham loanee loud and clear
While the Lilywhites have had few troubles in finding the back of the net, players knowing exactly what playing for the club means has dwindled as more signings are made.
Someone, such as Donley, will wear his heart on his sleeve when called up to the first team on a regular basis, and that should be ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
If Postecoglou ignores the talented 20-year-old, it might just be a matter of time before another team comes along to steal his signature on a permanent basis.
