Ange Postecoglou cannot ignore Mikey Moore at Tottenham after what happened on Friday
Mikey Moore continues to prove to Ange Postecoglou that he is not to be ignored at Tottenham next season.
It has been an incredible few weeks for Spurs’ teen sensation.
Having trained with the first team toward the back end of the season, Moore would go on to make two Premier League appearances off the bench.
He became the youngest player to ever appear in the Premier League for Tottenham, and it appears that he has carried that momentum with him into the UEFA Under-17 European Championships.
After scoring twice in England’s 4-0 win over France’s Under-17s on Tuesday (21 May), the forward was on target once again as he continues to send a message to Postecoglou ahead of next season.
Mikey Moore ready for more first-team involvement with Tottenham next season
It was defeat for the Young Lions in their second match of the tournament, but on a personal level, it was another good night for Moore.
The 16-year-old made it three goals in two games during the 4-1 loss to Portugal’s Under-17s.
After Rodrigo Mora had opened the scoring, Moore was on hand to equalise with half-time approaching.
The winger got on the end of Leo Shahar’s cross and finished coolly to level proceedings.
Portugal would go on to score three times in the second half and win the match, but that shouldn’t take away from Moore’s impressive form at the competition so far.
He is continuing to prove to Postecoglou that he is ready for more first-team action next season, and the Australian must ensure that Moore is on the plane for Spurs’ pre-season tour.
England will need a positive result when they take on Spain on Monday (27 May) if they are to progress from Group D.
That offers Moore the perfect opportunity to once again put his name up in lights and leave Postecoglou with no choice but to take notice.
