Tottenham are on the verge of signing Wilson Odobert from Burnley after the winger passed a medical, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The Belgian journalist reported via X on Friday morning (16 August) that Odobert, 19, is absent from Burnley's training with his move to Spurs said to be "very imminent".

Odobert played all 90 minutes and scored in Burnley's Championship opener against Luton Town on Monday night (12 August).

Tottenham close in on new signing with Wilson Odobert medical done

This is a deal that has come out of the blue for Spurs fans.

Since Dominic Solanke's arrival from Bournemouth, it's been a bit quiet on the transfer front but Spurs have seemingly gone under the radar to get a quickfire deal done for Odobert before the window shuts next Friday (30 August).

Burnley fans will no doubt be gutted to see the French winger leave Turf Moor as he's without a doubt one of the most talented young players at their club and in the whole of the Championship.

Last season, he played 29 times in the Premier League and scored three goals as the Clarets were relegated.

Before that, he had been on the books at Paris Saint-Germain and Troyes, where he played 32 times in Ligue 1.

There's no denying that Odobert is a great young prospect and Spurs should be very happy to have him.

It remains to be seen how much is being paid for the France Under-21 international but transfermarkt values him at £10million.
