Tottenham transfer update as Brighton talks held over Evan Ferguson exit

Brighton have now “held talks” about where the future of Evan Ferguson lies amid the recent interest from Premier League teams such as Tottenham, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their print edition [24 January, page 77] that if the Irishman does leave, it would only be on a loan deal.

Other top-flight sides such as Everton, Bournemouth and Fulham have all shown an interest in acquiring the strikers’ services.

Evan Ferguson would be a smart transfer for Tottenham

Now that Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Dominic Solanke could be out for around six weeks due to the injury he suffered, it’s clear that Spurs need to add another number nine to their ranks.

The 2024/25 season has been riddled with injuries for the North London club with their defensive line being particularly savaged.

However, now that Solanke is out for an extended period, Postecoglou has been left a bit light up top with Richarlison as his only natural number nine.

While there have been times when the Brazilian has proven his worth and scored a couple of goals, it feels like he’s nowhere near the quality needed for them to get to where they want to be.

The fact that the deal would be a six-month loan also makes a lot of sense as it allows an easy way for Solanke to make his way back into the Australian’s squad and doesn’t tie Spurs down to a big-money deal they can’t afford.
