Tottenham transfer round-up: £43.9m Bergvall news, new signing may leave already

Tottenham are still looking to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s injury-hit squad as the winter transfer window enters its final week.

Despite an increasingly lengthy transfer checklist when it comes to filling the gaps created by Spurs’ injury crisis, Yang min-Hyeok and goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky remain their only first-team additions.

Postecoglou’s side have slumped to 15th in the Premier League with just one win in 10 and seven losses over the course of that run, and it’s clear the Australian needs reinforcements if he’s to save his job.

Here, Tottenham News rounds up the latest transfer rumours on Tuesday, January 28.

Jeff Stelling tells Tottenham to forget Marcus Rashford move

With Manchester United’s wantaway England forward Marcus Rashford attracting interest from Spurs and host of other clubs across Europe, Stelling dismissed any chance of him arriving in North London.

Rashford’s significant wage packet has been the main put-off point for clubs which have dropped out of the race to sign the 27-year-old, and Stelling argued that this would certainly apply to the Lilywhites.

Speaking on talkSPORT (28 January, 7:26 am), he said: “There are clubs in England – Tottenham fans would love to have Marcus Rashford, but it’s not going to happen.

“All the stories are that Tottenham don’t pay the wages other rival clubs do. For his own good, I think he needs to go abroad and out of the glare of the spotlight.”

Yang Min-hyeok set for temporary Tottenham exit already

He may have only come through the doors on 1 January after signing from Gangwon FC, but Lilywhite Rose has reported that the 18-year-old attacking midfielder is now set for a loan move to QPR.

The Spurs insider reported via X on 28 January with information from South Korea which implied that Yang would be heading across the capital to Loftus Road, with QPR currently 13th in the Championship.

Yang is yet to make a first-team appearance since his delayed arrival after initially signing for £3.3million last summer, and despite Postecoglou being short in all areas, it’s doubtful he’d stand in Yang’s way.

Tottenham make £43.9m stance clear after transfer reveal

Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt reported on 27 January that having beaten no less than 23 clubs to the signature of Lucas Bergvall last summer, Spurs have placed a £43.9million price tag on the teenager.

Bergvall, 18, has been one of Spurs’ breakout stars amid this season’s ongoing injury crisis, with plenty of pundits wondering exactly how Postecoglou ended up with the midfielder ahead of other sides.

A £43.9m valuation is certainly one which could tempt some of the world’s most monied clubs – Spurs spent £40m on Archie Gray themselves – but they’ll be keen to ensure he stays put for the forseeable.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs face a £9million sticking point as they seek out potential replacements for Ange Postecoglou.
