Tottenham star wants to leave as transfer offer arrives

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has been linked with an exit in the summer transfer window.

The Mali international moved to North London from Brighton back in 2022, but has seen his minutes diminish over the last two seasons.

He made just 16 Premier League starts this past season in comparison to 26 starts back in the 2023/24 campaign.

Fenerbahce make loan-to-buy offer for Bissouma

According to Hurriyet (4 June), Fenerbahce have made a loan offer for Bissouma with an option to buy.

This is the first offer that has been tabled by the Turkish side as they aim to have the 28-year-old in time for pre-season.

They’re understood to be in negotiations with Tottenham over the potential departure of Bissouma.

The midfielder wants to leave and Spurs are pushing for it to be a permanent move rather than a loan-to-buy deal.

Fenerbahce have already contacted the Mali international’s agents and that accelerated the process.

Tottenham must look to cash in on Bissouma this summer

Tottenham are making a prudent decision by facilitating Bissouma’s departure, given his diminished role and inconsistent performances under Ange Postecoglou.

The 28-year-old midfielder, signed from Brighton for £25 million in 2022, started only 16 Premier League games in 2024/25, a sharp decline from 26 starts in 2023/24, with just 1,408 minutes played.

His struggles to adapt to Postecoglou’s high-pressing system, coupled with injury concerns and the emergence of younger talents like Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, justify Spurs’ willingness to move him on.

With only one year left on his contract, a permanent transfer avoids the risk of losing him for free in 2026.

To persuade Fenerbahce, who have offered a loan-to-buy deal, Tottenham should emphasise Bissouma’s Premier League experience and marketability, pushing for a £15-20million permanent fee.

Highlighting his potential to thrive under Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce’s need to replace Fred could secure an immediate transfer, providing Spurs with funds to target replacements.
