Tottenham spending could go past £300m as Eli Junior Kroupi update emerges
Tottenham Hotspur have shown serious intent in the early days of the transfer window.
Naturally, they did have to, after successive 17th-place finishes in the Premier League.
But, not even in their wildest dreams would fans have expected the club's recent exploits.
Jan Paul van Hecke is the only arrival who a fee has been paid for, but this £52million figure is set to be toppled by £85m for Mateus Fernandes, and maybe even £100m for Sandro Tonali.
At the end of the season, the Lewis family at the helm made it clear that lessons would be learned, and this appears to be the case thus far.
And, Spurs don't seem to be slowing just yet, with months left of what is set to be a record-breaking summer.
Who could be next in line as Tottenham fees pile up?
It has been a big 24 hours for Tottenham fans, with breaking news emerging on Tuesday night suggesting that terms are agreed to sign West Ham midfielder Fernandes.
In a huge confidence-boosting move, the Lilywhites have toppled Manchester United in the race as they show serious intent.
Now, Tottenham insider and FA-registered agent Paul O'Keefe reports that Bounemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi is of interest this summer.
The 20-year-old scored 13 goals for the Cherries last term, seeing his stocks rise massively after a stunning debut season.
The Sun reported in April that £80m would be required to prise him away from Bournemouth.
Assuming that Tonali follows both Fernandes and Van Hecke, the expenditure would sit at £237m - smashing the previous record.
And alongside this, the bar could be set much higher, with a deal for Kroupi taking the tally above £300m.
Tottenham have spent big before, but this summer could hit a level completely unprecended level for the North London club.
Tottenham have shown ambition before - this time it is different
While Spurs have had big windows, they have always came under fire for not matching the ambition of their rivals.
Tottenham's record window would come in 2023, with £213m spent as they made use of the Harry Kane funds.
Though, this window would be largely disappointing for long-term value, with many moving on, including £47m man Brennan Johnson.
Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Co. arrived last summer, seeing the tally reach around £138m, while figures of £150m and £100m were hit in 2022 and 2013.
This time around, the Lilywhites have got big business done early, which could be the deciding factor as to why this window tops the rest.
Too often, Spurs have been left scrambling in the final weeks, but now they seem to be ambitious with the finances, and smart by getting deals done early.
