Tottenham send Barcelona new Ansu Fati proposal in major transfer development
Tottenham have sent Barcelona a proposal to secure Ansu Fati’s services on a loan deal with an option to buy, according to Fichajes.
The Spanish news outlet reported on 22 January that this is something that could be viewed favourably by the La Liga outfit.
It’s understood that Barcelona want Spurs to also pay a significant chunk of his wages so that they can bring in new players.
Tottenham must think twice before pursuing Ansu Fati’s services
Spurs should exercise caution before finalising a deal for Fati, given his recent performance and injury history.
His previous loan stint with Brighton in England was less than impressive, with limited impact on the pitch which might signal struggles adapting to the Premier League’s pace and physicality.
Moreover, the 22-year-old’s career has been plagued by injuries, particularly a severe meniscus tear in 2020, followed by recurring hamstring problems, casting doubts on his ability to maintain consistent fitness.
This is particularly concerning for the North London outfit, who have also grappled with injuries to their key players, disrupting team dynamics and performance.

While Fati’s potential remains undeniable, as evidenced by his early breakout at Barcelona, the combination of his recovery and adaptation challenges could pose significant risks.
Given the pressure mounting on Ange Postecoglou, he would rather the club bring in the finished product this transfer window.
In other Tottenham news, an update has emerged on Kieran McKenna succeeding Ange Postecoglou to become the next Spurs manager.
