Tottenham ‘ready to sign Eberechi Eze’ as £68m transfer clause emerges

Eberechi Eze is understandably a wanted man after a stellar season at Crystal Palace, and Tottenham are interested.

The 26-year-old has been a slow burner, having been released by four clubs before eventually cutting it in the big time at Selhurst Park.

Now, the Eagle is in his prime and has cemented his status in the English game after leading the London club to FA Cup glory.

However, Palace face a battle to keep him this summer, and Tottenham are one of several clubs interested in Eze.

Eze has Tottenham decision if they trigger Palace buy-out

While Palace qualified for the Europa League, they have faced potential issues in playing in next season’s competition.

Although that outlook seems rosier after John Textor sold his stake, their European future is still not confirmed.

That outlook seems pivotal to retaining Eze, although in truth, it still might not prevent him from leaving.

The main factor that can pave the way for the midfielder to leave Selhurst Park is Eze’s buy-out clause, which is set at £68million.

Indeed, if Spurs trigger that buy-out clause, then a final decision will rest with Eze, according to The Mirror (23 June).

They state that Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also keen on the former QPR man, but Spurs are considered favourites.

Tottenham have other targets in Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo, but Eze is looking the more realistic acquisition.

Spurs can lay down marker with Eze signing

Some signings can make or break an era, and signing Eze would certainly make Thomas Frank’s

The 26-year-old has been consistent for several seasons and was once wanted by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Now, Eze is playing in his prime and is a regular pick in the England squad due to his fine form in South East London.

Last season, he notched 16 goal contributions in the league alone, but his influence extends far beyond statistics.

Eze’s composure in midfield and ability to pick a pass are admirable, and he knows how to find the bottom corner of the net.

Under Frank, the midfielder can thrive, and Tottenham have the attacking players to complement his game.

At £68million, it would be daft if the Lilywhites did not make a move, but ultimately the decision rests with Eze.
