Tottenham reach blockbuster Mathys Tel transfer agreement

Tottenham have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to sign Mathys Tel, according to Le Parisien.

The French outlet reports [30 January] that Spurs are pushing hard to sign the 19-year-old winger, with a deal in principle now being reached for a £50million transfer (€60million).

It is understood that Tel has yet to decide on his potential destination this window, though the youngster has decided to leave the Allianz Arena before the window slams shut on 3 February.

Tottenham to sign Mathys Tel?

Tel is certainly a talented player, having already made 83 appearances for one of the biggest clubs in European football and scoring 16 goals in that time too.

With just two starts in the Bundesliga this season, it is really no wonder why the youngster is so keen on a move away from Germany, and North London looks to be his next destination.

However, the current stance on transfers is all wrong from the Lilywhites as Ange Postecoglou continues to come under heavy fire at Hotspur Way due to recent results in the Premier League.

Mainly thanks to injuries in defence – Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario all sidelined recently – Spurs have been leaking goals at home and away.

The under-pressure manager should be begging Daniel Levy to open his pockets for a brand-new defensive signing, or even two, but only attacking links continue to emerge at Hotspur Way.

The Lilywhtes are unlikely to be relegated from the Premier League despite their current position in the league table, but if there is any hope of advancing in the Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup, reinforcement is a must before the window closes.

Supporters are becoming more and more frustrated by the lack of incomings, and while Tel is a very talented footballer, he is not what Postecoglou needs right now.

In other Tottenham news, Mauricio Pochettino’s odds of becoming the next manager have been slashed after a new Ange Postecoglou sack decision.
