Tottenham now in ‘concrete talks’ for transfer of striker – Florian Plettenberg
Tottenham are now in “concrete talks” for the transfer of FC Nurnberg talisman Stefanos Tzimas, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky German journalist reported via his personal X account (30 January) that Spurs and Aston Villa are now both throwing their hat in the ring despite the Seagulls being in “pole position” for his services.
Plettenberg added that the Bundesliga 2 outfit are demanding a fee worth around £20.9million to pry the Greek talisman away from Germany in the summer.
“EXCL | Stefanos #Tzimas is currently leaning towards a move to Brighton in the summer, after very good talks with Fabian Hürzeler,” he wrote.
“However, Tottenham and Aston Villa are also in the race for Tzimas and are engaged in concrete talks and negotiations, but Brighton currently in pole position.
“FC Nürnberg are demanding €25 million plus bonus payments in summer. Before that, FCN will activate the €18 million buy option for the 19-year-old striker talent.”
Tottenham need to focus on transfers for now rather than in the summer
While future-proofing your team for the next year or so is a worthwhile task, it feels like the more pressing matter at Tottenham should be finding players to bolster their ranks now.
Spurs have had some dreadful luck this season with the amount of injuries they’ve suffered and unless some new faces are brought in before 3 February, it’s hard to see what Tottenham will be able to improve upon in the second half of the season.
The likes of Mathys Tel are being linked with a switch to North London in the winter window with the Frenchman now seemingly leaning towards joining Ange Postecoglou’s team.

Tzimas would undoubtedly be a solid acquisition for Tottenham in the summer with his clinical finishing and keen eye for a pass just two things that make him an ideal target for Spurs.
However, at this moment in time, Spurs need to find some players they can bring in now in order to try and help them make their way back up the Premier League table, otherwise, it could end up being curtains for Postecoglou.
In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy could end up making a decision about Spurs that would reflect rather poorly on him.
