Tottenham make last-gasp approach to sign Aston Villa attacker Leon Bailey
Tottenham are interested in Aston Villa forward Leon Bailey on transfer deadline day, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist revealed that Spurs have enquired about the 27-year-old’s availability in the coming hours before the 11 pm deadline tonight.
As it stands, the Villans have closed the doors on a possible exit from Villa Park mid-season.
Speaking on his YouTube channel (2 February), Romano said: “What I can tell you is that Man United and Tottenham, both clubs, called to be informed on Bailey, but again, it depends on Aston Villa, and at the moment, there is still no open doors.
“We will see on deadline day what’s going to happen on that one.”
Tottenham want deadline day Leon Bailey transfer
Bailey has struggled for consistent game time at Villa in the current campaign despite the departure of Moussa Diaby to Saudi Arabia.
Unai Emery has preferred the likes of Morgan Rogers and John McGinn on the wings, leaving the 27-year-old on the bench.
Ange Postecoglou has had to deal with several injury issues this season at the North London outfit, with Dominic Solanke currently on the sidelines.
Tottenham have also been without Richarlison for a considerable period, and despite his return, his consistent injuries will be worrying for fans.

Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson have failed to have the impact many of the North London outfit’s faithful had thought a few months back, and bolstering the attack should seemingly be a priority for Spurs in the final hours of the window.
The Lilywhites ended their winless run on Sunday (2 February) by defeating Brentford 2-0 in the Premier League away from home.
Spurs sealed the victory with a Vitaly Janelt own goal and a late Pape Matar Sarr strike.
Whether Daniel Levy will add to the Kevin Danso signing on deadline day remains to be seen.
