Tottenham make £70m deadline-busting move for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi
Tottenham have had a deadline-busting £70million offer rejected for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, according to Ed Aarons.
The Guardian journalist reported (3 February) that the mega-bid was knocked back because the Eagles do not feel that they have adequate time to replace the England defender before the 11 pm deadline.
Spurs are expected to revive their interest in the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window when the centre-back will have just 12 months left on his Selhurst Park contract. [David Ornstein]
The Lilywhites are set to continue their search for a new defender on the final day of the winter transfer window after completing a move for Lens’ Kevin Danso.
Tottenham have left it too late
Ange Postecoglou is desperate for defensive recruits as the winter window comes to a close as he seeks to save his job in North London.
The Australian has been without the likes of Christian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies, and Destiny Udogie for a significant period which has left his side 14th in the Premier League.
The Three Lions defender would have competed for a starting place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium rather than coming in to cover for injured players.

However, the club have left it too late to make their move for the Eagles’ star man and will now have to settle for a summer transfer.
The move reeks of desperation from Daniel Levy due to the poor timing and the amount that Spurs were willing to pay.
The fact that Palace have rejected it might be the craziest part of all, they could have fleeced the Lilywhites and taken advantage of their desperation.
In other Tottenham news, the club have launched a shock bid for a Chelsea forward as the deadline approaches.
