Tottenham learn Skriniar transfer outcome after ‘major PSG decision’ today
Milan Skriniar’s future doesn’t look set to lie with Tottenham despite not being part of PSG’s squad to face Manchester City, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist posted on X (22 January) to report that PSG had taken the major decision to leave him out of their squad for Wednesday’s must-win Champions League clash against Manchester City.
With Spurs having asked for conditions to complete a transfer “days ago”, Romano later reported that Fenerbahce have agreed a deal to sign Skriniar, who is instead expected to be in Istanbul on Wednesday (22 January).
Romano said: “Milan Skriniar, not even called up by Luis Enrique for PSG to face Man City.
“Galatasaray and Napoli remain options for Skriniar in the final days of the window. Tottenham asked for deal conditions days ago.”
He later added: “Fenerbahce agree deal in principle to sign Milan Skriniar – winning the race over more than three clubs.
“Verbal agreement to sign the player on permanent deal, not loan as offered by other clubs. Skriniar expected to be in Istanbul today.”
Tottenham suffer new transfer setback amid Milan Skriniar decision
The 2025 winter transfer window is ticking by at speed, yet as each day comes and goes, Spurs’ clear dearth of options in central defence has still not been addressed in the form of reinforcements.
PSG leaving the 29-year-old Slovakian out of their Champions League side would have been seen as a boost for the Lilywhites’ chances of signing him, only to have those hopes crushes within half an hour.

Ange Postecoglou has made clear to decision-makers in North London that signing a centre-back is of paramount importance this window, with his side leaking goals at will in recent months.
Adding a seasoned, experienced Skriniar to the mix would have certainly helped to stem the flow of goals flying past Postecoglou’s side, which hasn’t been abated by the signing of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.
With Skriniar seemingly heading to Turkey – to play under ex-Spurs boss Jose Mourinho – that will force the Australian to move onto other targets, albeit time is running our for any deal of note to get over the line.
