Tottenham heavily involved to seal Tyler Dibling transfer after new bombshell
Tottenham are “heavily involved” in the race to sign Southampton star Tyler Dibling, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on X (21 January) that RB Leipzig are ready to pay more than £23million for the 18-year-old, who is a regular starter for Ivan Juric.
However, in a major bombshell, Plettenberg says “half of Europe” now want to sign Dibling alongside Premier League clubs including Spurs, which is driving up the price.
Tottenham remain very active in the market for reinforcements having lost out on several targets, with just Antonin Kinsky having so far arrived this month.
Tottenham one of many clubs after Tyler Dibling
Dibling has burst onto the scene in the Premier League this season, despite his club’s abysmal form since returning to the top flight.
The England Under-21 attacking midfielder, who turns 19 next month, has featured in 20 league games for Saints this season and has been a shining light, always looking to make things happen in an ailing team out of their depth.
It consequently comes as little shock that Tottenham hold an interest in the teenage talent, who briefly left Southampton for Chelsea in 2022, returning to St Mary’s after two months following a broken agreement over a professional contract.
Dibling will almost certainly leave Southampton in the summer at the latest because it is almost guaranteed the Saints will be relegated.
Spurs, meanwhile, will fear they may find themselves in the same predicament that has seen them miss out on other January targets – their lack of Champions League football compared to English and European rivals.
