Tottenham Hotspur have a decision to make over a permanent deal for Joao Palhinha.

The Portugal international completed a highly anticipated loan switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last summer.

There were some early negative reviews aimed towards the defensive midfielder as he struggled to adapt upon his Premier League return.

Spurs may have had a dreadful season overall, but he did manage to garner some positivity towards the end of his spell in N17.

His showings towards the end of the campaign were particularly useful as relegation was avoided.

The Lilywhites now have the perfect chance to bring Palhinha back in as Bayern Munich change their demands.

Bayern Munich lower Joao Palhinha asking price

There was always going to be questions to answer when the season ended over the future of the 30-year-old.

A permanent option was on the table as part of his loan switch from the Bundesliga giants.

That allowed the North Londoners to sign the ex-Fulham man for £26million, but a deal was never sealed.

Things may now change after Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha reported on Saturday that Bayern Munich have agreed to lower their asking price to around £21m.

He isn't part of the German champions' plans and is attracting interest from Sporting as a homecoming could be on the cards this summer.

That may be an option Palhinha is seriously considering, but Spurs have to make their presence known this summer.

Tottenham must make Palhinha offer this summer

Roberto De Zerbi's side are in need of change this summer, but it could be a familiar face who could make a difference.

He may have had some difficult spells over his loan spell, but does bring experience and passion to the base of midfield.

That could prove to be worth the risk in North London, especially for a fee in the region of £21m.

There won't be many players with over 360 career appearances available for that sort of fee this summer.

The Lilywhites need some steady heads who do what they say on the tin and Palhinha could be exactly that.

Andy Robertson has already come in as a similar mould, so securing the Portugal international could be a no-brainer.
