Tottenham have a gem on their hands in Harley Backhouse amid mind-blowing goal reveal
Tottenham are not just strengthening at senior level this summer as Harley Backhouse looks set to take the youth team by storm.
The focus of fans right now is on first-team additions, with Sandro Tonali the latest to join in a £100million deal.
But Tottenham supporters also have plenty to get excited about when it comes to the age-grade sides.
Backhouse has just been announced as the latest addition to the Under-14s side.
While not a great amount will be known about the teenage talent on the face of it, the stats certainly make for encouraging reading.
On the basis of what he has done so far in his young career, there is no reason why Backhouse cannot be fast-tracked through the ranks.
What do we know about Tottenham addition Harley Backhouse?
Backhouse had been with Luton Town since Under-9s level prior to making the switch to Tottenham.
He is aged 13 and will initially start life at Hotspur Way as part of the U14s side.
Lilywhite Rose, who specialises in Tottenham's youth teams, shared an image of Backhouse holding up a Spurs kit at his unveiling.
The X account described Backhouse as "highly regarded" and wished him luck.
The Talent Hunter, meanwhile, shared that Backhouse scored 66 goals for Luton last season.
This was followed with a 'mind-blown' emoji - and understandably so given that goals reveal.
"A really promising young centre-forward," the respected Instagram account added. "He'll certainly be a positive addition to Tottenham’s academy."
What will the plan be for Backhouse?
That depends entirely on how quickly - or not - he develops his game.
He will initially begin at U14s level, but it is not unusual for players to then play a year or two higher than their own age.
If Backhouse can replicate what he did for Luton last season, there is no reason he cannot quickly climb the ranks.
For now, though, Spurs' academy coaches will be tasked with ensuring he is given all the tools he needs to settle into his new surroundings.
