Tottenham have expressed their delight after one goalkeeper at the club put pen to paper on a new contract at Hotspur Way.

Ange Postecoglou has been forced to use four different goalkeepers this season.

Guglielmo Vicario has reclaimed his position as the number one choice in North London since returning from injury, with fans recently calling for the Tottenham shot-stopper to be made captain.

Meanwhile, Antonín Kinský appears to have established himself as the number two behind Vicario after arriving at Spurs during the winter transfer window as part of a transfer in which Daniel Levy played a major part.

This has pushed Fraser Forster down the pecking order, with the 37-year-old expected to leave Spurs at the end of the season, while Brandon Austin was finally handed his debut for Tottenham this term.

And it looks as though the future between the sticks has gotten even brighter in North London.

Sam Archer signs professional contract with Tottenham

Spurs have a host of talented young goalkeepers on their books, including Josh Keeley, who is making a big impact on loan at Leyton Orient.

Luca Gunter has also impressed within Spurs' academy this season. However, it is Sam Archer who has signed his first professional contract with Tottenham.

The Under-18s captain has shone this season, and Spurs announced via Spurs_Academy on X on Tuesday (25 March) that they were "delighted" to confirm that 18-year-old Archer has put pen to paper on a professional deal with the club.

Archer will hope for a Tottenham chance in pre-season

It is unlikely that Archer will get a first-team chance between now and the end of the season.

However, having signed his first professional deal, the goalkeeper will be hoping for some opportunities to impress in pre-season, or perhaps even some more consistent chances to train with the first team.

Vicario is still only 28, which means Spurs will be in no rush to bring a new goalkeeper through. However, the North London club will feel comfortable in the knowledge that they have some talented young shot-stoppers waiting in the wings.
