Tottenham defender set for January exit with decision very soon

Alfie Dorrington is expected to leave Tottenham on loan in the coming days, according to Michael Bridge.

The Sky Sports reporter shared via X (13 January) that the 19-year-old is expected to leave for the remainder of the campaign.

There is strong interest in the defender from Aberdeen but several EFL clubs are also keen, leaving Spurs with a decision to make shortly.

Alfie Dorrington not in Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham plan

It’s not a big surprise to see Dorrington linked to a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the transfer window as the defender has made just one Premier League appearance this term.

Given the number of injury issues Postecoglou has faced this term, especially in the defensive positions, being pushed to their limits at times, the Australian still hasn’t opted to use the 19-year-old which shows he is unlikely to get many more minutes throughout the season.

With this in mind, a loan spell seems like the most sensible decision for all parties. This would provide the youngster with the opportunity to get some regular minutes which could assist him upon a return to North London eventually.

Furthermore, if the defender could go away and prove his abilities as a player, he would surely find himself proving Postecoglou wrong, thinking that the boss should have used him to his advantage in the side.
