Bryan King has backed Tottenham and Southampton to agree a player-plus-cash deal involving Joe Rodon and Carlos Alcaraz.

The ex-Spurs scout believes Rodon's time in North London is over and that the defender will be keen to move on from the club this summer.

As reported by Alan Nixon via his Patreon (23 June), Southampton and Spurs are trying to agree a swap deal involving Rodon and Alcaraz.

Rodon is valued at £10million while the Saints value Alcaraz at around £30million. As a result, Tottenham might need to include some cash to get a deal across the line.

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - has backed the two clubs to come to an agreement.

"It looks like Rodon's time with Tottenham is up," King said.

"He plays in a position where Spurs have spent a lot of money and have better options. At this moment in time, he doesn't have a future with the club.

"I think this deal will be best for all parties. Rodon will want first-team football, Spurs will want to add some much-needed squad depth.

"This deal seems feasible and I could therefore see it happening."

Will Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz improve Tottenham?

While Alcaraz might not be a player who gets supporters off their feet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, this could still prove to be a smart bit of business.

Spurs need to add some squad depth in midfield, while Rodon has become surplus to requirements.

Joe Rodon is likely to leave Tottenham this summer.

Therefore, exchanging the Wales international and a bit of money for Alcaraz, who is still only 21, could prove to be a beneficial move in the long term.

The Argentinian has plenty of time to develop, and Ange Postecoglou could help him to do just that.
