Tottenham agree first January transfer, player in London right now

Tottenham are on the verge of completing their first signing of the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported via X (4 January) that Spurs have agreed a deal with Slavia Prague for goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

Ange Postecoglou lost first-team goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to injury in November and was believed to be eager to sign Wolves shot-stopper Sam Johnstone on loan until the end of the season to compete alongside deputy Fraser Forster [Graeme Bailey].

However, Spurs will move for 21-year-old Kinsky, who is in London on Saturday (4 January) for medical tests ahead of a move to North London.

Tottenham set tot sign Antonin Kinsky

Daniel Levy is making moves in the transfer market as Spurs prepare to host Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (4 January).

Forster is set to miss the clash and 26-year-old Brandon Austin is expected to make his first-team debut – much to the dismay of the supporters.

The Tottenham faithful have been vocal regarding the Lilywhites’ supposed transfer dealings this month and will undoubtedly be relieved Postecoglou has not materialised his interest in Johnstone.

One of the main critics in the speculation from the supporters lied with the age of Johnstone, with many believing Spurs should be recruiting for the future and to ease the ongoing injury crisis.

Well, the prayers have been answered – Kinsky has started all of Slavia Prague’s fixtures in the Czech First League and Europa League this season as the Red and Whites lead the domestic league.

While Kinsky will arrive in the Premier League as a relative unknown, his profile is perfect for the type of ball-playing goalkeeper Postecoglou requires for his system and, with age on his side, he could challenge Vicario for the number one spot in the years to come.
