Son Heung-min could rid guilt of Tottenham exit as loan return mooted - 'It’s my fault'
Son Heung-min could end his Tottenham Hotspur guilt by returning this summer.
The South Korea international is rightly an icon in North London after his 10 years of service.
His move from Bayer Leverkusen went on to be one of the best pieces of business Spurs have ever made.
Things ended on a perfect note as his final competitive outing came in Bilbao as he lifted the Europa League against Manchester United.
That didn't take away from the guilt that he has felt since departing the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Son may look to change the tide in the coming weeks and months as a return could be on the cards.
Son Heung-min felt guilty about leaving Tottenham
No one could truly begrudge the 33-year-old's departure as it felt as if it came at the right time for everyone.
His goal output was still at a high level, but his performances weren't matching his previous standards.
That saw the door open to an MLS switch as he completed a move to LAFC.
Things have gone well for the forward out in the States, but it didn't stop him from keeping tabs on the Lilywhites.
Spurs have really struggled since his departure and Son revealed his guilt for that in a GQ interview earlier in June.
He said: "Every week was painful to watch, and it was especially sad because last year we lifted an amazing trophy.
"It feels a little bit like it’s my fault, like they are having a tough time and like I was just running away from it. So it was really painful to watch that."
Son could solve his guilt as Tottenham approach made
Those quotes will certainly warm the hearts of Spurs fans after his emotional departure in 2025 exit.
It is clear that he really cares and it feels like Tottenham really need someone like that right now.
Son could see a surprise return to N17 materialise this summer as a loan deal could be possible.
Former scout Bryan King exclusively revealed to Tottenham News that an approach has been made to make that deal happen.
He said: "Tottenham have approached - and this is from someone who I know - that Spurs were trying to get Son back for a year, for the season coming.
"He'd certainly generate some interest if he came back. There's always the possibility of him coming on loan."
This could be a perfect chance of a swan song for the forward in a similar vein to Gareth Bale in 2020.
