Tottenham Hotspur could move for Scott McTominay this summer.

The Scotland international is coming off the back of a second campaign with Napoli after his switch from Manchester United.

He has been a sensation in Naples and is seen as a true icon after winning the Scudetto in his debut campaign.

The midfielder followed that up with another productive campaign infront of goal despite his side's failure to lift another league title.

A summer at the World Cup now looms as he helped Scotland to the tournament for the first time in 28 years.

That could ultimately make way for McTominay to join Spurs as a move to North London becomes a possibility.

Tottenham interested in Scott McTominay as Roberto De Zerbi eyes shift

There has already been plenty of transfer noise surrounding the Lilywhites with a week remaining until the window opens.

A deal for Andy Robertson has already been confirmed, one which will come into action when his contract ends at Liverpool.

It could be another Scotland international who next comes through the doors in the shape of McTominay.

The Napoli star could depart Serie A in the coming weeks or months as a Premier League return could be on the cards.

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King believes Spurs will be interested in his signature as Roberto De Zerbi looks to change the mindset in his squad.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: "Robertson is right up De Zerbi's street.

"That would lead me to think of McTominay at Napoli. He will be of interest of Tottenham because he's got passion wherever he plays.

"I thought Man United were wrong to sell him, even if the money was good. He's gone to Italy and proven himself by winning a title out there.

"That's the kind of player Spurs should be looking to bring in. I could see Gallagher, Maddison and McTominay playing together in midfield.

"I think he'll cost them £50million. What Tottenham need is players who are prepared to fight for the shirt and I think De Zerbi understands that."

The Scot would certainly add that to the Lilywhites' squad and could prove to be a real coup this summer.

How far could Tottenham go to sign McTominay from Napoli?

It says a lot about Spurs that the former Man United man would have been their top scorer this season despite often acting as a central midfielder.

He scored 14 and assisted three in all competitions last time around, adding to his 17 goal involvements from his debut campaign.

That sort of output would certainly benefit the North London club, as would his clear leadership qualities.

McTominay could raise the levels in N17 instantly and could prove to be worth every penny of £50m.

That may be seen as too much to spend on a 29-year-old, but he is a midfielder coming into his peak with plenty of top level experience.

Tottenham can't risk being too picky this summer, so striking while they can for these sorts of deals would be wise, even if Napoli set a demand closer to the £60m mark.
