Savio's Tottenham contract examined: Wages, duration and amortisation

Savio looks to be one of the most exciting signings of the summer at Tottenham Hotspur.

It was a long time coming, but the Lilywhites finally got hold of the Brazilian.

He didn't come cheap as Manchester City banked £75million for his sale in late August.

There are serious questions there to be answered as many ponder whether the 22-year-old can live up to the expectation of that fee.

The winger has looked good in his opening appearances in N17 and even bagged a goal and assist on debut against Charlton Athletic.

It will be interesting to see how Savio gets on at Tottenham as we now assess his contract in North London.

There are so many questions surrounding the attacker due to his career in England so far.

His move to Manchester City to Girona came with plenty of expectation after 11 goals and 10 assists for the Spanish outfit.

That sort of form hasn't been replicated since with just 11 goal involvements in the Premier League since 2024.

There will be hope that he can get back to his best in N17 and Tottenham are certainly banking on it.

Savio is reportedly being paid £150,000-a-week by Spurs as part of a five year deal, according to Valuball.

That equates to a staggering £7.8m-per-year for the winger across a sizable period.

Throw that in with a major transfer fee and the North London club are proving that they can put their money where their mouth is when necessary.

How much are Tottenham paying for Savio per year?

The financial side of this deal is simply massive.

It feels as though the five-year deal was the best way to get around that somewhat and spread the fees across a longer period.

Spurs will reportedly pay an amortisation fee rising to £18.6m each year for Savio until his current deal ends in 2031.

That would see his transfer fee paid off, although the cost to the Lilywhites could grow if he agrees fresh terms on a bigger wage later down the line.

It's a major outlay, so the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium needs to see the best of the forward as soon as possible.
