Radu Dragusin meets with Thomas Frank while ‘Tottenham defender leaves for good’

Radu Dragusin will hope to impress Tottenham manager Thomas Frank ahead of the new season.

The Romanian centre-back featured 16 times in the Premier League in his second season in English football.

However, he has been out since the end of January with a cruciate ligament injury and missed the Europa League final win as a result.

While he failed to fully convince Ange Postecoglou of his abilities, he has a fresh start under the former Brentford boss.

Dragusin meets with Frank as Tottenham exit likely

The former Genoa defender has had a tough time so far at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A report from the print edition of the Sun (20 June, page 51) claims that Dragusin has met with the new boss ahead of the new season, along with the rest of the injured players.

It states that while the 23-year-old could thrive under Frank, Sergio Reguilon is set to depart at the end of his contract, with just three full-backs left in North London.

Tottenham can utilise Dragusin if Romero leaves

The 27-cap Romania international has the potential to become a superstar at Spurs, if he is given regular chances in the starting line-up.

His aerial ability and physicality are well-suited to the demands of the top-flight and his the perfect age profile, but they need to be patient, given that he is recovering from a brutal injury.

Eventually, though, he could become the perfect replacement for Cristian Romero, who seems increasingly likely to join Atletico Madrid.

He could save Daniel Levy a fortune if he can make the step up to become a reliable option for Frank, as they would not have to dip into the transfer window and could utilise funds on other areas of the squad.

Whether he can make that step up remains to be seen, but the evidence that we have seen so far should provide encouragement.

One thing is for sure, the Lilywhites should not let him depart this summer, as he has far too much promise, which could come back to haunt the N17 outfit should they allow him to leave.
