Mourinho ‘uses perfect Everton ploy’ to set up Bissouma exit at Tottenham

Jose Mourinho wants to bring Yves Bissouma to Fenerbahce, and the midfielder is open to a move.

Bissouma has fallen out of favour at Spurs and would be excited to unite with Mourinho in Turkey.

So, all that’s needed to make it happen is the small matter of negotiating a deal with Daniel Levy.

Fenerbahce have already pitched a loan-to-buy deal to Spurs, which would allow them to sign the Mali international next year.

And now Mourinho is masterminding the perfect transfer deal to free up the funds for his target.

Mourinho ready to sell Fred to Everton for huge profit

Former Manchester United midfielder Fred is at Fenerbahce and has enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance in Turkish football.

Still, Mourinho is ready to sell him to make room for Bissouma in his midfield.

A report from Turkish Football (30 June) suggests that Mourinho has green-lighted the sale, although Everton will need to cough up around £17million.

That’s a significant profit on what the Istanbul club paid for Fred in 2023, and could go a long way to funding the Bissouma deal.

Bissouma signed from Brighton in 2022 for £25m, but it’s thought Spurs may be willing to take a loss on him.

Tottenham need to be ruthless in this transfer window

Tottenham finished 17th in last season’s Premier League after many of their highly-paid stars underperformed.

This travesty of a Premier League season cost Ange Postecoglou his job, and Thomas Frank has been brought in to try and get Spurs fighting back at the top end of the league.

He’ll be given a significant transfer budget to make that happen, with several exciting players having already been targeted.

However, Frank will also be expected to sell unwanted players to make room for his new recruits.

Frank would be well advised to be ruthless with the players he doesn’t want. There aren’t many players who performed to their capabilities last season, and few could have any complaints if they were nudged through the exit door.

Bissouma is one of those players who looks increasingly unlikely to help Tottenham fight for a top-five position, and few Spurs fans would be disappointed to see the back of him.
