Marc Guehi transfer ‘on the cards again’ after Tottenham developments

Tottenham’s interest in signing Marc Guehi may have been reignited ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tottenham have embarrassed themselves in the Premier League this season, and with just one game remaining, they could finish as low as 17th.

Their shortcomings domestically heightened the need for them to find success via the Europa League, and they did just that with a 1-0 win over Man United in Bilbao.

A season without European football would have been a disaster for Spurs, but they won’t have to worry about that anymore, having secured Champions League football, and that may have just reopened the door for Guehi to join Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham can guarantee Champions League football

Quite literally everything hinged on Tottenham’s ability to win the Europa League, with recruitment potentially right up at the top of that list.

Given their potential league finish, the prospect of joining Spurs wouldn’t have been an appealing one without European football, but their Europa League triumph has completely changed that, and it may see the deal for Guehi move back on track.

Spurs made an attempt to sign Guehi in January, but that deal fell through with many expecting them to try again in the summer, though Crystal Palace winning the FA Cup threw a spanner in the works.

It seemed unlikely that Guehi would leave ahead of a European campaign with the Eagles, but with Tottenham now able to offer Champions League football, a deal may now appear feasible again.

Question marks are still present over the future of Cristian Romero, but with or without him, Guehi would be an excellent addition for Spurs if they attempt to come back in for a deal.

Guehi could be tempted into Spurs move this summer

With Champions League football now secured, Tottenham will be aware of the need for reinforcements in the summer transfer window.

Ultimately, their squad have struggled to cope with the demands of playing in two competitions, and if they are to avoid a repeat of their domestic nightmare, they need to address the concerns they have from a squad depth perspective.
