Marc Guehi ‘makes final Tottenham decision’ after latest deadline day bid

Both Crystal Palace and Marc Guehi are said to have closed the door on a transfer to Tottenham on deadline day, according to TBR.

The news outlet reported (3 February) that Guehi looks set to stay at Crystal Palace despite Spurs having made a massive £70million bid for the defender [Ed Aarons].

Guehi has ruled out a move to the North London outfit which would have been a record transfer fee for both clubs with Palace also insisting the England international will stay put.

If Tottenham are to sign a new defender today, they will have to turn their attentions elsewhere.

Tottenham left it late to move for Marc Guehi

Quite frankly, at this stage of the window, very few clubs are going to sanction exits for their key players with such limited time remaining to capture a replacement.

Although the reported fee was huge, Palace allowing his exit would have made no sense and it also begs the question as to why Spurs didn’t make a move earlier.

Had this bid been submitted three, even four weeks ago, the likelihood of a deal materialising would have been far greater but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Although Tottenham completed the signing of Kevin Danso recently, additional recruits was still evidently a priority but if they are to achieve that, they must ramp up their efforts.

With just over 10 hours remaining in the window, time is running for Tottenham to secure further reinforcements in a bid to revive their dismal season so far.

In other Tottenham news, a new £10million Archie Gray agreement could be reached in an easy deal.
