Luka Vuskovic's return to Tottenham Hotspur after his loan to Hamburg has been highly anticipated.

The Croatian, while already hotly tipped to become a great in the football world, took his performances up another notch in Germany.

Many fans expected Vuskovic to play a key role for Spurs moving forward, but speculation continues to be rife.

Vuskovic's future is still not known, and the many centre-back targets for Tottenham only further put it into question.

The 19-year-old must also be starting to wonder where he will fit within Roberto De Zerbi's squad heading into 2026-2027.

Why Luka Vuskovic could question Tottenham future

Vuskovic has been linked to many European giants, such as Barcelona and Bayern Munich due to his spell for Hamburg.

It has left Tottenham with a big decision over whether they look to cash in or integrate him into the first-team

However, Spurs' business over the last few weeks has put into question the pathway that Vuskovic could have in the Premier League.

Cristian Romero looks set to leave Tottenham, and a deal will likely have to wait until after the World Cup.

Tottenham have wasted no time in scouting a replacement, with Marco Senesi expected to join the North London outfit on a free transfer.

Additionally, another centre-back is being eyed with a bid rejected for Jan Paul van Hecke over the last week.

Radu Dragusin is also expected to leave Tottenham in the summer, and if all deals are completed, it would leave the N17 side with four central defenders, excluding Vuskovic.

Micky van de Ven, Senesi, Kevin Danso and van Hecke is a solid quartet of centre-backs, and for any of them, it would take hard work to become first-choice.

After his stellar season in the Bundesliga, it would not be a surprise for Vuskovic to now wonder how exactly he fits into the fold at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What is the latest on Kevin Danso's future?

Out of all those options listed above, you would expect Vuskovic to take the place of Danso.

However, De Zerbi seems to be quite a fan with the Tottenham manager stating via Football.London that Danso "will be here next season."

Overall, the route to first-team football is not clear for Vuskovic, when in reality, he is probably one of the better options for De Zerbi.

Selling him would be a mistake, but it may appear that another loan is the optimal decision.
