Levy ‘risks more humiliation’ as sources deliver Mathys Tel to Tottenham update
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is a man well known for his tactics when it comes to negotiating transfers.
Levy always tries to drive a hard bargain, but it does not always pay off – as Tottenham have found out the hard way countless times when transfers have broken down.
Spurs now risk a similar outcome this summer as a new update has been shared on the future of Bayern Munich loanee Mathys Tel.

Tottenham to negotiate Tel fee with Bayern
Tel has not exactly lit up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since joining on loan from Bayern in the winter transfer window.
Indeed, his return of three goals and no assists in 13 appearances in all competitions is extremely underwhelming.
While his lack of starts may suggest he has no future in North London beyond this summer, a report by GiveMeSport (25 April) implies otherwise.
It is reported that Tottenham like what Tel brings and see him as a long-term project, with the aim of landing him permanently this summer.
Tottenham | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Mathys Tel | 13 | 3 | 0 |
Amid claims it will cost in excess of £43million to sign Tel, though, Levy is trying to drive that price down.
However, this is a scenario Tottenham fans have seen too many times before, in that the Lilywhites hold their nerve for a little too long and see a player they want head elsewhere.
And if Bayern simply tell Levy they have no interest in negotiating further and walking away, it will be the ultimate embarrassment.

Levy cannot afford a single mistake in summer transfer window
Talk regarding the future of manager Ange Postecoglou continues to dominate, but Levy knows Spurs have a massive summer ahead regardless of who is in charge.
Players will be moved out and plenty more will hopefully be brought in to ensure this season’s Premier League campaign is not repeated.
Many will scoff at the thought of the Frenchman joining permanently for a big fee, but Tel is clearly a talented player and may well thrive under another manager.
If Levy and Tottenham truly do want to sign the attacker, now is the time to strike rather than holding off until the closing days of the summer.
