La Liga club seriously consider £12.4m deal for Tottenham ace

Girona are “seriously considering” making Bryan Gil’s loan move from Tottenham permanent for £12.4million, according to Diario AS.

The Spanish sports newspaper reported via their website on 2 January that the La Liga club are willing to take up the option to make the attacker’s season-long loan move permanent.

However, they will not do so immediately as they have until the end of the season to make a decision, although they have been impressed by him.

Spurs, meanwhile, are continuing to keep tabs on Gil’s situation in Girona, with the player still contracted to them until 2026.

Bryan Gil to seal Tottenham departure soon

However, the transfer has not gone according to plan, with the Spaniard managing just two assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for the Premier League club.

The 23-year-old has since spent time away on loan at Valencia and Sevilla, with the move to Girona being his third temporary spell.

Gil will enter the final year of his contract at Tottenham at the end of the season and it is hard to see him forge a long-term career back in London.

Therefore, it would make sense for all parties involved if Girona made his loan deal permanent.

Spurs are on course to make a significant loss on the left-footed winger, but they would rather sell him before his value falls further.

Gil, meanwhile, appears to be enjoying life at Girona, having bagged two goals and three assists in 16 La Liga appearances so far.
