Garnacho bombshell: Tottenham make move to sign £60m Manchester United ace
Tottenham have made a “shock” enquiry for Alejandro Garnacho at Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported via their website on 31 January that Spurs have a long-standing interest in the Argentina international and have asked about signing him on loan.
Ange Postecoglou’s side made the move just hours after Mathys Tel rejected a £50million transfer to the Premier League club.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are willing to let Garnacho go for £60m amid interest from also Chelsea and Napoli, while the player’s agents are open to him moving to London.
Tottenham to seal shock Alejandro Garnacho transfer from Manchester United?
Tel’s rejection is a massive blow to Tottenham as Daniel Levy even flew to Germany to convince the attacker to move to North London [Fabrizio Romano].
That means Spurs quickly have to find an alternative as they look to strengthen their attack before the transfer window slams shut on Monday, 3 February.
Their move to sign Garnacho is ambitious, considering the fact that Chelsea and Napoli are also interested and the time is quickly running out on the clock.
However, there is no reason why Levy cannot pull off a shock deal to sign the 20-year-old. After all, Spurs were willing to pay as much as £50m to sign Tel, 19, from Bayern.
Tottenham, though, will be hopeful that Fikayo Tomori also does not reject them like Tel did after agreeing a deal worth £25m with AC Milan [Gianluca Di Marzio].

Postecoglou’s side are in advanced talks to sign the England international, but are yet to get the green light from the player.
In other Tottenham news, a deal for Tel could still be on the cards despite him initially snubbing Spurs, according to Paul Merson.
