Evan Ferguson transfer: Tottenham demand clause as Brighton make exit decision
Brighton have made Evan Ferguson available for loan in January but Tottenham will only proceed with a deal if an option to make it permanent is included, according to TEAMtalk.
The news outlet reported on 31 December that the Seagulls are happy to send the Irishman out on loan with Ferguson said to be “keen” to play in London amid recent transfer links to Tottenham (Miguel Delaney).
However, it is understood that Spurs will only proceed with a deal if an option or obligation to buy clause is inserted into the transfer giving Tottenham the chance to sign him permanently.
Spurs are not keen on developing a player from another club for little benefit of their own.
Evan Ferguson signing looks unlikely at Tottenham
Given how highly valued Ferguson is at Brighton, its hard to envisage a scenario in which the Seagulls would sanction a permanent exit for the striker with the level of potential in his play.
Tottenham have been urged to complete the signing of the Irishman and it is certainly one that would make sense given the lack of striker options at Spurs with Dominic Solanke the only out and out number nine at the club.
Ferguson has shown his ability to play high-level Premier League football but game time at Brighton has become limited and an opportunity to recapture his form with regular game time will be a preference for both club and player and Tottenham may suffer as a result.

Given Solanke was a big-money signing in the summer, its hard to see a loan player coming in and taking his place at the top of the list whereas other clubs will be able to offer the security of a place in the starting XI.
It will certainly be a transfer to keep an eye on as the rumour mill goes on.
