Djed Spence increasingly likely to leave Tottenham after £35m Liverpool news
Liverpool are in the hunt to sign Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence before the summer transfer window closes.
Spurs have been very active since the end of last season, when they only just avoided relegation to the Championship.
Jan Paul van Hecke, Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali have all joined the North London club, while Alejo Veliz, Alfie Devine, Luka Vuskovic, Tynan Thompson and Will Lankshear have all been sold in permanent deals.
After wowing for England the World Cup, Spence is increasingly likely to join that list of outgoing players, according to The Sun's Tom Barclay.
He claims that Liverpool "do have some interest" in the 25-year-old England international, who is valued at roughly £35million by Spurs.
Other clubs, however, are pursuing Spence with more vigour.
Who is most likely to sign Djed Spence?
It's no surprise to see the former Fulham and Middlesbrough full-back attracting so much attention after his performances for England in North America earlier this summer.
He was a key player for Tottenham last season, though, having played 30 times in the Premier League, averaging 69 minutes per game.
Spence starred mainly at left-back but could also play on the opposite side of the defence, but with ex-Liverpool hero Robertson arriving this summer on a free transfer, there's every chance Spence will be booted down the pecking order.
He's got plenty of options, though, with Inter Milan, Manchester United and Everton also linked with the former Leeds United loanee.
Where the bookies say Spence will end up
As it stands, Spence is odds-on favourite to stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to multiple major bookmakers in the UK.
Liverpool (5/2) are favourites to actually sign him, though, ahead of Inter (3/1), Roma (6/1), Man United (8/1) and Everton (11/1).
Tottenham fans will probably prefer to see Spence move aboard, rather than stay in the Premier League and potentially prove Roberto De Zerbi wrong for getting rid of him.
While he did do well at the World Cup, Spence was one of many Tottenham players to massively under-perform last season, so offloading him based on that looks like the correct decision.
And if they can get £35m for him, then that's even better because a big increase on the £20m they paid to sign him from Boro four years ago.
