Cristian Romero transfer bombshell drops – ‘It’s true’
Cristian Romero could be on his way out of Tottenham in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old defender is set to enter the final two years of his deal at Tottenham this summer, and that has led to uncertainty over his future at N17.
He’s has been a mainstay in Spurs’ defence since joining the club in 2022. However, he has managed to make just 14 appearances this term because of two separate injuries.
Romero is now reportedly being courted by several clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Romero heading for Tottenham exit
The Argentina international attracted interest from Real Madrid in the past, and now it appears their city rivals Atletico Madrid have also joined the race.
According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas on X (25 March), Diego Simeone’s side are interested in signing the 26-year-old from Tottenham this summer.
The journalist posted: “It’s true that Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Cristian Romero from Tottenham this summer.”

The Spanish giants have closely tracked Romero and see him as becoming one of the best centre-backs in the world one day.
It appears that Romero’s exit is likely to happen as Spurs have already started working on signing a new centre-back in the summer.
Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite appears to be on Tottenham’s shortlist. Other names like Koni De Winter have also been mentioned.
Spurs must keep Romero
The North London outfit have struggled massively this season as they are staring at a mid-table finish in the Premier League. The team spirit has been affected by the poor results and in such moments you need leaders to take charge and maintain the squad harmony.
This Spurs squad has very limited leaders and Romero is one of them. When the chips are down and the team is struggling, you would want your leaders to lead from the front. If Romero is sold, the Lilywhites will not only lose a sturdy defender but also lose a leader.
The 26-year-old has the characteristics to become one of the world’s best and Spurs cannot afford to let him leave anytime soon.
