Brighton seek revenge on Tottenham as bizarre Luka Vuskovic offer lands
Brighton have tabled a bid to sign Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Croatia international is currently at the World Cup and is looking ahead to an opening clash against England.
He is coming off the back of a stellar campaign on loan at Hamburg in the Bundesliga.
That has sparked interest from various top sides moving into the summer as he looks set to return to N17.
The Seagulls are the latest side to enter the race for the defender with days remaining until the transfer window opens.
It appears that Brighton are looking to get one over the North London club, but their bid for Vuskovic is hardly going to go down well.
Brighton table terrible offer for Luka Vuskovic
The south coast outfit have long made a habit out of signing young talent before turning them into true stars.
Their history of big-money sales proves how great that has worked out for them with the likes of Moises Caicedo, Joao Pedro and Alexis Mac Allister sold in recent years.
They are now looking ahead to a campaign in UEFA Conference League and are looking to spend more to improve their squad.
That has sparked a move for Vuskovic, with David Ornstein reporting on Friday that Brighton have made a £30million offer for the defender.
The Croatian is favouring a move to the Amex and sees it as the best next step for his development.
He also has a mutual trust with Fabian Hurzeler that could help tip the scales in favour of a move.
It appears that Brighton are looking to get their own back with a cut-price offer for Vuskovic after Spurs made a move for Jan Paul van Hecke.
Tottenham face Brighton revenge after Jan Paul van Hecke offer
Roberto De Zerbi clearly wants to add defensive depth to his side having already signed Marcos Senesi on a free transfer.
That recently saw the North London club table an offer for Van Hecke that was instantly rejected by Brighton.
They value the Netherlands international at between £60m and £70m and weren't entertaining Tottenham's opening offer.
That appears to have ruffled some feathers at the Amex as their bid for Vuskovic is pretty bizarre.
To offer £30m for one of the brightest defensive prospects in world football is silly and could prove to be an act of revenge rather than anything else.
