Barcelona shock: Star left out of squad as Tottenham transfer bid emerges

Ansu Fati has been left out of the Barcelona squad for the fourth consecutive game amid transfer interest from Tottenham.

The 22-year-old was absent for the Balgruana's clash against Getafe on Saturday (18 January) which "definitely opens doors to his exit" [Fabrizio Romano].

With this development at Camp Nou, Graeme Bailey has reported (18 January) that the Spain international has been proposed to Spurs in recent days.

Ange Postecoglou's side are said to be working on a number of deals in January with a rekindled interest in Fati potentially one of those.

The youngster who took Lionel Messi's famous number 10 shirt at Barcelona has struggled to impose himself since returning to La Liga in the summer.

The forward spent last season on loan at Brighton where he showed some flashes of quality amid plenty of injury concerns at the Amex.

With just four league appearances since departing the Seagulls, it is fair to say that a move away from Catalonia would make sense for Fati.

Spurs could prove to be the destination for the 22-year-old with attacking reinforcements potentially needed after an injury to Dominic Solanke.

With his lack of minutes so far this season, any deal for the attacker could prove to be brave from Postecoglou so it will certainly be interesting to see what happens in January.
