Angel Gomes transfer: Tottenham want deal as ‘outstanding’ ace heads to England

Angel Gomes looks set to return to England with Tottenham among his admirers, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The newspaper reported on 29 December (page 67) that the 24-year-old could be in line to return to Manchester United after an “outstanding year”.

Spurs are also showing an interest in the England international and could also face competition from Newcastle United to land the Lille midfielder’s signature.

Tottenham to compete with Manchester United for Angel Gomes signing

Ange Postecoglou has come under fire this campaign as results and performances haven’t been at the expected level.

This leaves a clash against Wolves on Sunday (29 December) as a must-win as the Australian looks to secure his future in North London.

If the 59-year-old is to remain in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium dugout, the former Celtic boss will want to freshen up his squad with new transfers.

Gomes could prove to be an excellent addition to the Spurs midfield, providing competition for the likes of Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma.

The Lille ace has caught the eye of England fans this campaign and would represent a coup for the N17 club given the level of interest in the midfielder’s signature.

A deal to bring the Red Devils’ academy product to North London would show the intent of Daniel Levy and Co. and also weaken a direct rival in Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

It is unclear how much a deal may cost but does look as if the Ligue 1 side are resigned to losing their star man.
