Alejo Veliz to return to Tottenham amid Sevilla farce, talks underway for new loan – Fabrizio Romano
Alejo Veliz will return to Tottenham and then be loaned out somewhere else where he’ll earn guaranteed game time, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal X account on Sunday (31 March), Romano reported that Veliz, 20, will not continue at Sevilla past the end of his current temporary deal with the La Liga club, who signed him in the winter transfer window.
It is understood that talks are set to take place in the coming months to decide on where the Argentinean striker will spend 2024/25 on loan.
Will Tottenham recall Alejo Veliz from Sevilla?
In a nutshell, they can’t recall Veliz from Sevilla unless there’s a break-clause in his contract that can be triggered by the North London club.
It’s unlikely that is the case and it’s also very unlikely that Sevilla will willingly send Veliz back to Spurs earlier than planned.
He’s only played three times in all competitions since joining the Spanish club on 1 February with those appearances amounting to just 23 minutes.
The ex-Rosario striker was an unused substitute on Saturday (30 March) in Sevilla’s 1-0 win at Getafe, meaning he’s not played a competitive first-team game now in almost a month.
It doesn’t look good for Veliz at Sevilla but the Spaniards will no doubt have to call upon the striker if they get one or two injury issues crop up in the coming weeks.
That’s why they wouldn’t dream of sending the young striker packing so soon, especially when we’ve seen at Tottenham that he has a lot of potential and can score goals when coming off the bench.
