Mohammed Kudus looks set to join Tottenham this summer.

The West Ham winger has been heavily linked to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since Thomas Frank’s arrival.

This is despite Daniel Levy rarely dealing with West Ham, with Spurs’ last signing from their London rivals coming in 2011 when Scott Parker was joined.

However, the winger is set to be followed up by more signings at Spurs this summer.

Tottenham awaiting work permit decision for Kota Takai

Spurs made an announcement on their official website (9 July) that the Japanese international had agreed to join the London club on a deal that will run to 2030.

However, the statement also confirmed that this was subject to international clearance and a work permit.

Appearances 81

Assists 1
Honours Japanese Super Cup x1, Emperor's Cup x1
Takai was a big success in Japan

Until this is sorted, Takai cannot play for Spurs, with the 20-year-old arriving from Kawasaki Frontale.

Nevertheless, this is unlikely to be a problem for the defender or Tottenham as both parties await the verdict.

Takai will be an excellent option for Frank this season

Tottenham’s defensive errors last season was one of the major factors why they finished 17th and why Ange Postecoglou was eventually sacked

Spurs ended the campaign with the fifth-worst record at the back in the division, with injuries no doubt playing a part.

However, Frank has no doubt looked to rectify the lack of options in defence, and Takai will be an excellent option for the Dane this season.

Given his performances in the J1 League, Takai has been backed to succeed Spurs, and hopefully he will be given plenty of opportunities in the upcoming campaign.

If so, Tottenham could have their defensive issues sorted for the forseeable future if Takai can reach his potential at the London club.
