Tottenham very advanced to beat Barcelona to Yan Diomande transfer as Thomas Frank finds new striker
Tottenham are already in advanced contact to sign RB Leipzig striker Yan Diomande.
Thomas Frank was hit hard when it was revealed that Dominic Solanke would be sidelined for Tottenham for an extended period.
Randal Kolo Muani has impressed at Spurs, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll continue in North London beyond this season.
Meanwhile, Richarlison and Mathys Tel have both been inconsistent, which has made it difficult for the Dane to trust them.
As a result, Frank is already looking to get another striker in place ahead of January.

Tottenham battle with Liverpool for Yan Diomande
Both Tottenham and Liverpool are in very advanced negotiations with Diomande’s entourage, according to Sacha Tavolieri via Sky Sports on 3 December.
The Lilywhites have been following him for several months, and his profile appeals to Frank, who wants to strengthen with a dynamic player capable of breaking lines.
Meanwhile, Liverpool, who are in a reconstruction phase, consider the 19-year-old as a serious option to bring freshness to their final third.
- Diomande is contracted with Leipzig until 30 June 2030
- He has eight goal contributions in 14 appearances for Leipzig
Current La Liga title holders Barcelona are also interested, but contacts have been nothing more than exploratory for the time being.
As a result, the Lilywhites could beat the Catalan club to his signature if Hansi Flick’s side does not act on its interest.
As for Leipzig, the German side remains calm and has not yet opened negotiations with any club. However, they are closely monitoring the evolution and discussions around their star player.
With Liverpool hot on their heels and Barcelona lurking in the wings, Tottenham will need to act fast to secure his signature.
Tottenham fans will not want a Xavi Simons repeat
Tottenham signed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig over the summer with the promise that he could become their next star.
The attacking midfielder has since failed to start for four consecutive match days.
Frank has opted to substitute him during times when games are not going in the Lilywhites’ favour.
This was the case during Tottenham’s recent 2-2 draw to Newcastle United in the Premier League, where the Netherlands international looked sharp.
The Dane has admitted that Simons still needs time to adapt to the pace of the Premier League, but demoting him to the bench will hardly help matters.
As a result, Tottenham will need to have Frank green-light Diomande’s transfer or else he could face the same fate as Simons.
