Tottenham to terminate forward’s agreement as multi-million exit set
Tottenham have already let several players leave the club in January.
Jamie Donley has been loaned out to Oxford United, while Kota Takai will earn some game time at German side Borussia Monchengladbach.
Although other loan deals have also been completed, the most high-profile exit is Brennan Johnson’s £35million move to Crystal Palace.
The Welsh international scored the winning goal in the Europa League final against Man United, and although he has etched his name in Tottenham‘s history, he wasn’t seen as an integral part of Thomas Frank’s plans this season.
And Alejo Veliz’s loan spell could now be terminated, as he looks set to join Johnson in leaving Spurs permanently.

Alejo Veliz set to move to Brazilian side Bahia
Tottenham forked out £13m to sign Veliz from Rosario Central in August 2023 with the hope that the striker would develop into a player capable of leading the line for them.
However, it hasn’t gone to plan, and Veliz left Tottenham on loan for a return to Rosario Central in the summer, although that spell could be over very soon.
According to reports from Brazilian media outlet UOL, Spurs are expected to terminate the remaining six months of the striker’s loan to Rosario Central in order to facilitate a move to Bahia.
| Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Alejo Véliz | 8 | 1 | 0 |
Brazilian outfit Bahia have made a multi-million-pound offer to buy Veliz, and an agreement in principle has already been reached with Tottenham.
The offer’s value has not been officially disclosed, but the proposal is considered to be quite high, and Veliz could be on the verge of a long-awaited departure from N17.
Having been on Tottenham’s books for over two years, the move clearly hasn’t worked out for the 22-year-old, and it’s now just a matter of time before he is let go permanently.
His luck sums up exactly why Spurs are still in desperate need of a reliable goalscorer.

Thomas Frank striker dilemma has been a huge issue for Tottenham’s form
Veliz isn’t the only striker who hasn’t lived up to his full potential.
Richarlison has had a good season; however, his work rate off the ball has left Frank far more impressed.
Dominic Solanke came in from Bournemouth in August 2024 with a huge amount of promise, but injuries have stunted the £65million man’s progression.
As for Randal Kolo Muani, he has not been fully fit this season, although two goals from 21 appearances is still not good enough.
A lot of money has been spent on forwards, and none of them, including Veliz, have looked anywhere near the level that Tottenham need if they want to compete for Champions League football.
While Frank does need to get more out of his players, the onus is on the board to make a statement signing and bring a proven striker to the club.
