Tottenham to announce shock Chelsea player transfer on Tuesday
Tottenham Hotspur are set to confirm the signing of Reiss Russell Denney from Chelsea on Tuesday, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist posted on X (3 February) that the England Under-19s midfielder has left Chelsea to join Spurs late in the winter transfer window and is expected to be announced on 4 February.
Russell-Denney is yet to make his first-team debut for Chelsea, but does have caps for England’s Under-17s, Under-18s and Under-19s, and will likely join up with the Lilywhites’ academy in North London.
Tottenham transfer business concludes with academy signing
Although much of the transfer Deadline Day attention at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came in the form of strengthening Ange Postecoglou’s first-team squad, Spurs have still stayed alive at all levels.
Mathys Tel’s arrival on loan from Bayern Munich will grab all the headlines – and rightly so – joining the earlier additions of Kevin Danso and Antonin Kinsky to bolster the Australian’s squad.

Midfield additions haven’t been seen as necessary compared to the gaping holes in central defence and out wide for the Lilywhites, but they’ll see Russell Denney as a player who can soon make the step up.
No fee has been disclosed as the teenager makes the move across London, but given Chelsea are keen to extract value from all their young players, a value in the region of six figures wouldn’t be surprising.
It remains to be seen if and when Russell Denney will make the breakthrough into the first-team, but until then, he provides the additional squad depth which Spurs have largely gone without this season.
In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou was revealed to have played a crucial role as Spurs sealed a last-ditch headline transfer.
