Tottenham sign George Jobling from Chelsea – Here’s everything Spurs fans need to know
Tottenham are set to strengthen their youth ranks after reportedly agreeing a deal to sign George Jobling from Chelsea.
Jobling, who is just 15-years-old, is now expected to join up with the Spurs academy as he continues his development.
The right-back is very highly rated in his age group and is currently the England captain at Under-16 level.
He has a good amount of experience at international level, having also featured for the Under-15 side in the past, before moving up age groups at the start of this season.
What type of player is George Jobling?
It is something of a coup for Tottenham to convince Jobling to complete a move to North London, given his reputation in youth football.
The 15-year-old has been linked with a Chelsea exit over the past few months, and Spurs have moved quickly to snap him up.
As per Ben Mattinson, who is now a first-team scout at Italian side Como, Jobling has shown impressive traits while at Chelsea, which he should be able to develop further at Tottenham.
He often uses quick combination play to bypass a high press, sometimes even carrying the ball into midfield to spark attacks.
Jobling has a strong passing range and has a wide range of crosses in his armoury as well.
The teenager is also very adept defensively, often using his body to dispossess attacks and only going to ground when absolutely necessary.
What next for George Jobling?
Jobling is certainly one for the future, and a player that Tottenham fans are likely to be hearing more about in the coming years.
The defender is set to join up with the England Under-16 squad once again for their upcoming trio of fixtures, as he continues to gain experience for the Three Lions.
England face Denmark, Spain and France before the end of February, and Jobling will be hoping to be involved in all three games.
He will then return to Tottenham and look to replicate the likes of Dane Scarlett and Mikey Moore, who have ascended from the academy and into the first team in recent years.
