Tottenham set new Lucas Bergvall price tag as big financial winners named

Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall looks set for plenty of transfer attention in the near future.

Tottenham rejected approaches from Chelsea and Aston Villa for Bergvall in the winter transfer window, as they see him as a pivotal piece of their project.

A report from FotbollDirekt on 20 February states that Tottenham do not want to sell the Swedish ace, and the price of £57million, which was set last summer, no longer applies.

It states that is no longer enough for the North London outfit to consider the 20-year-old’s future, and the chance of a huge windfall will not change that.

Who is set for huge financial win?

If the Lilywhites decide to sell Bergvall, then his former club Djurgarden will be in for a big financial victory, the report states.

It claims that they have already received £9m from the base fee, with a further £5m in bonuses from the deal, which took the player to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The outlet states that the Blue Stripes also have a 10-15 per cent sell-on clause, which would result in another boost if their former star moves on from N17.

Why Tottenham cannot sell Bergvall at any price

Spurs simply cannot allow the six-cap international to leave anytime soon, it would send the wrong message to the fanbase and, more importantly, to rival clubs.

The Swedish club may be hoping for another windfall, but the board cannot sanction an exit for one of their most promising stars.

If they are hoping to get back to the upper echelons, in both the Premier League and the Champions League, then the Swede will play a huge part in that.

The fanbase are already furious about recent developments, and if one of the jewels in the team was sold, it would surely send them into overdrive.

It would also show to their rivals, that they are not serious about catching up domestically or in the continental game, because he is an integral part of the side when he is fit.

No matter the price, he must stay at Hotspur Way and be a leading part of the rebuild, under Igor Tudor or whoever takes over in the summer, if the Croatian is not handed the reins.
