Tottenham ready two new defender signings amid ‘serious’ news – Fabrizio Romano
Tottenham want to sign two new defenders before the winter transfer window slams shut on Monday, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer journalist revealed via his personal X account on Friday (31 January) that Spurs feel Radu Dragusin’s injury is more “serious” than initially thought and, therefore, want to bring in as many as two new centre-backs to the club.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are already locked in negotiations over a deal to sign Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan, while other options are also on their shortlist.
Daniel Levy and Tottenham set for busy end to window
Tottenham remained inactive in the transfer window after signing Antonin Kinsky early on despite the mounting injuries in the squad.
It has been evident that Postecoglou needs new outfield signings to avoid the North London club’s season derailing entirely amid an injury crisis in the squad.
It appears Daniel Levy is now entering panic mode, with the chairman reportedly flying to Germany to convince Mathys Tel over a transfer to the Premier League – a move that ultimately failed as the teenager rejected the proposal [Fabrizio Romano].
Micky van de Ven returned to action this week, but Cristian Romero remains sidelined with Dragusin now joining him on the treatment table.
Tottenham are, therefore, in a precarious situation, especially in defence.
That is why Spurs are aiming to sign two new central defenders before the window closes, with Tomori among those considered.
They have already agreed a £25million fee with Milan, but are yet to receive the green light from the former Chelsea ace [Gianluca Di Marzio].
