Tottenham lead race to seal January transfer for ‘perfect’ star who Thomas Frank loves

Tottenham had a busy transfer deadline day with both incomings and outgoings before the close of the summer window.

Randal Kolo Muani completed his season-long loan move from PSG to take the Lilywhites’ final tally of summer additions to an impressive eight.

At the same time, Spurs agreed deals for Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil to head for the exit, with the pair both sealing last-minute moves to La Liga.

It has been a hectic few weeks in the market for Thomas Frank and Co., but attention will now already be turning towards their plans for the January window.

Tottenham well placed to sign Nathan Collins

Tottenham were linked with a move for Nathan Collins earlier in the summer, with Frank seemingly keen to head back to Brentford to snatch one of his key players from his time there.

The Ireland centre back has gone from strength to strength since his move to the West Londoners back in 2023, and has understandably attracted interest from some of the Premier League’s top clubs recently.

Brentford managed to keep hold of their club captain on this occasion, but that may not be the case by the time January comes around.

Tottenham are understood to be the “most serious candidates” in the race to land Collins in January, according to CaughtOffside.

Frank is keen to secure a reunion with the defender at his new club, and the N17 outfit are showing a “determination” to make progress towards securing his signature this winter.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also showing an interest in the 24-year-old, who is under contract at the Gtech Community Stadium until 2029.

Thomas Frank once called Nathan Collins ‘perfect’

Frank’s admiration of Collins is nothing new to Spurs, given that they targeted him for large parts of the summer window.

The Dane has seemingly been keen to try and tempt members of his old Brentford side across London with him, with moves for both Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Norgaard mooted earlier in the window.

He signed Collins from Wolves in 2023, and then trusted him to play every single minute in the Premier League last term.

Frank branded the defender a “perfect Brentford player” (as per BBC Sport) for the way that he bought into the culture of his team, and as a result, it is hardly surprising that he is now chasing his signature once more.

The transfer window may have only just finished, but Spurs’ long-term plans appear to be just getting started.
