Tottenham know what it will take to sign Ruben Vargas as officials sent to eye up transfer
Tottenham now know exactly how they can complete the signing of Ruben Vargas in January.
The Lilywhites strengthened their ranks in impressive fashion over the summer, but have already turned their attention towards the winter window with an eye on further improvements to their group.
Tottenham have identified Vargas as a possible option, with Aston Villa also showing a keen interest in taking the winger to the Premier League.
Thomas Frank’s side are already blessed with plenty of depth in the wide areas, but their options could be about to grow even stronger this winter.

Tottenham will need to pay £21.8m+ for Ruben Vargas
Mohammed Kudus has made an excellent start at Tottenham since his move from West Ham in the summer, but that has not deterred the North Londoners from continuing to try and add quality on the flanks.
Vargas is the latest man to be linked with a move to N17, with the Sevilla star understandably attracting attention after following an eye-catching start to the season that has seen him notch four goal contributions from five La Liga games.
- Vargas has seven goal contributions from 16 games since he joined Sevilla
- He spent the previous five-and-a-half seasons with Augsburg in the Bundesliga
- He never notched double figures for goal contributions in a single season during his time in Germany
The Spanish giants have now made their intentions clear as far as a potential sale, as they are adamant that it will take a fee in excess of £21.8million for them to consider selling the Switzerland international, according to Vamos Mi Sevilla.
Vargas is viewed by Sevilla as their “best asset” heading into January, despite the fact that he has only been with them since the last winter window.
However, Tottenham don’t appear to be deterred in their approach, with Vamos Mi Sevilla previously reporting that officials had been sent to keep tabs on the 27-year-old last week.

Spurs don’t need Ruben Vargas
The likes of Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert are struggling for gametime at Tottenham, so the last thing that they really need is another option out wide.
Vargas is a capable player with plenty of top-level experience on the international scene, but this is the first time in his career that he has really put up numbers worthy of recognition in terms of goals and assists.
With that in mind, Spurs would surely be better served showing faith in their own pair of young talents and continuing to try and develop them, rather than bringing in a player who has never played in the Premier League before.
There are other areas of the squad in N17 that need to be strengthened, and it makes far more sense for the Lilywhites to put their money to use in those positions.
