Tottenham ‘have perfect chance to sign Liam Delap ahead of Manchester United’

Tottenham could beat Manchester United to the signing of Liam Delap as well as the UEFA Europa League.

Spurs will compete in a sixth European final after a convincing victory over Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League semi-final.

The North London club face fellow Premier League side Manchester United in the final, which is the last chance to save their season.

Now, with UEFA Champions League football on the cards, Tottenham have the chance to see Delap light up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

Tottenham could snatch Delap from United

After scoring 12 top-flight goals for Ipswich, Delap is said to be keen on a return to the north west.

The 22-year-old has been linked to Tottenham in the past, but is currently favouring a move to Manchester United.

That is according to talkSPORT (12 May), who also report that Delap’s preference is to play Champions League football next season, with United’s chances of securing the striker’s signature set to be boosted by winning the Europa League.

Therefore, while currently not the frontrunners, Spurs could put themselves in a good position for the 22-year-old’s signature if successful against United in the final.

Beating the Red Devils would confirm Champions League qualification, while preventing Ruben Amorim’s side access to the competition, which Delap is keen to play in.

Delap could be good for the future

Delap could prove a promising investment for the future after his impressive season for Ipswich, despite their confirmed relegation.

He has scored just three fewer goals than Dominic Solanke while playing 590 fewer minutes. Delap is good with both feet and possesses a ball-striking technique seen by only the best in the game, past and present.

If Tottenham are serious about coming back stronger next season, the North London club need to make some serious moves in the summer transfer window.

With several young players already playing in North London, Spurs have positioned themselves as the perfect destination for future stars and would be unwise not to take a chance on Delap.
