Tottenham favourites to sign Brentford forward as Bryan Mbeumo update drops
Thomas Frank is inevitably looking to his former club to bolster Tottenham’s squad.
Frank spent a very successful seven and a half years in charge of Brentford before making the switch to Tottenham, and still has close ties to the West London club.
The Dane has already brought a host of backroom staff from the Bees to Spurs this summer and is now looking to raid the playing squad.
Despite a deal for Mohammed Kudus being close to completion, Frank still wants to add to Tottenham’s front line and is looking to make a quick swoop after a recent update.

Brentford unlikely to sell both Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo
One of the first names Tottenham were linked with after Frank arrived in N17 was Bryan Mbeumo. However, Manchester United’s strong interest in the Cameroon international made it very difficult for Spurs to pursue a deal.
The Lilywhites have turned their attention to Yoane Wissa, who is much more attainable given that he is 28 years old and has one year left on his contract.

Much like many of Frank’s former players, the Democratic Republic of Congo international started his career as a winger at Brentford, but was converted to a more traditional striker by his former manager.
Tottenham are now clear favourites to sign the former Lorient forward as Wissa is odds-on with Ladbrokes to join the North Londoners ahead of Nottingham Forest and Newcastle.
However, Spurs could face an issue as Sky Sports reported (9 July) that Brentford are unwilling to sell both Wissa and Mbeumo this summer.
This will serve as a warning sign to Daniel Levy, who will need to act quickly to ensure a deal can be concluded with Wissa before United makes their move for his strike partner.

Wissa would be a great addition to Spurs
Any signing comes with a certain element of risk that it may not work out, but on the surface, Wissa is the perfect player for Tottenham.
He has already worked with Frank and is known for his high work rate and positive attitude, which complement his excellent footballing qualities.
The forward offers an entirely different profile to Dominic Solanke, as he is more willing to run in behind, but has also proven that he can play well as part of a front two.
Wissa is also in his prime and has plenty of experience, making him an ideal candidate for Spurs, especially with Richarlison set to leave this summer.
